Jiaying Du is an interdisciplinary artist, born in Shandong Province, China, in 2002 and raised in Guangzhou. She currently resides and studies in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and is an undergraduate student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Jiaying typically employs mediums such as oil painting, pastels, fiber materials, and digital art in her creative work. Her art intertwines her philosophical reflections on contemporary society with her personal experiences, unveiling and confronting the scars people often attempt to conceal. Furthermore, Jiaying is deeply invested in the social role of art, encompassing the connection between artworks and their audience, as well as the impact on viewers.
